Clingmans Dome Trail
For those looking for a short but difficult hike with an incredible view, Clingmans Dome Trail is a great option. This 1.5-mile round trip trail takes hikers up to the highest point in the park—6,643 feet—where they can enjoy panoramic views from observation tower at the summit. If you go during November or December, you may even have a chance to see some snow!
Andrews Bald
Andrews Bald is another great option for those looking for a relatively easy hike with rewarding views. The 3-mile round trip trail winds through dense forests before opening up into grassy fields and rocky balds with sweeping vistas of the surrounding mountains. A great spot for photographers, Andrews Bald also offers visitors an abundance of wildflowers throughout May and June.
Alum Cave Trail
Alum Cave Trail is perfect for hikers who are looking for more of a challenge! This 5-mile round trip trail leads visitors through stunning mountain landscapes before ending atop Mt. LeConte, one of the tallest peaks in the park (6,593 feet). Along this strenuous but rewarding trail are several landmarks including Arch Rock and Alum Cave Bluff itself—a massive overhang created by rushing water and wind erosion thousands of years ago.
